MISSION
The Office of Research and Development is a first-level unit of Ming Chi University of Technology. It is headed by a Director of Research and Development, who oversees all affairs of the Office. Under its structure, the Division of Research Promotion, the Division of Internship and Career Services, the Division of Industry-University Cooperation, the Industry University Collaboration Center(IUCC), and the Innovation & Incubation Center(IIC).
The Office of Research and Development provides recommendations for the overall development planning of the university, promotes industry–university cooperation, manages intellectual property, oversees student internships, and assists students in obtaining professional certification through skill examinations.The objectives of the Office are to promote industry–university collaboration and research development, to secure subsidies and grants from the Ministry of Education, government agencies, and private enterprises; to encourage students to obtain professional licenses as a means of achieving competency certification; to strengthen technology transfer capabilities in order to enhance industrial technology; and to achieve international academic exchanges so as to raise global visibility and research capacity.
The services of each division under the Office are described as follows:
Division of Research Promotion
Responsible for integrating internal and external resources and planning efforts to enhance the university’s research capacity, including system design, regulation drafting, performance statistics, government project management, and the administration of overall development grants and subsidies.
Division of Internship and Career Services
Established in the early years of the university, it aligns with the school motto of “Diligence and Simplicity” to train students in professional skills and practical management, fulfilling the educational goal of bridging the final gap between academia and industry. Its main responsibilities include off-campus internships, skill certification examinations, career counseling for graduating students, and student work–study programs.
Division of Industry-University Cooperation
Responsible for promoting industry–academia collaboration, with major tasks including applications and related matters for industry–academia cooperation projects, assistance with technical service project applications and related matters, patent applications, examination and promotional activities, technology valuation, technology transfer matching and implementation, planning and promotion of the Certification Center, drafting and campus promotion of intellectual property–related systems, and commercialization and matching of innovative achievements.
Industry University Collaboration Center
In line with national economic development and technological advancement, it integrates faculty, manpower, and hardware/software resources to conduct industry–academia research projects, strengthen technical exchanges with enterprises, provide technical services and consultation, and promote the vocational education goals of “balancing theory and practice” and “technological integration.” It also assists enterprises in leveraging the research capacity of nearby local schools, offering dedicated services to industrial parks, thereby facilitating connections between park enterprises and surrounding schools’ abundant research, technology, and talent resources. The aim is to build long-term cooperative relationships, promote industrial upgrading and transformation, and enhance competitiveness.
Innovation & Incubation Center
The scope of cultivation includes fields such as biotechnology, medical and welfare technology, electronic information, environmental engineering, precision measurement, mechatronic integration, automatic control, production management, and industrial product design, as well as innovative products or technologies and other industries aimed at developing smart living, or projects approved by the competent authorities.
