7.2.4 Plan to reduce energy consumption(2023)

In 2022, MCUT signed a “University Sustainable Development Initiative,” committing to carbon neutrality and environmental sustainability by 2043, committing to net-zero by 2050 targets and formulating relevant energy-saving measures in its mid- and long-term plans in 2023, including (1) strengthening energy-saving management – “energy-saving management personnel” must be assigned by each department to help promote energy-saving work; (2) energy-efficient configurations must be prioritized for new construction, construction additions and office renovations; (3) monitoring and replacing high energy-consuming air conditioners according to the energy policy targets; (4) using heat blocking films or installing heat blocking materials or high reflectivity coatings on the roof or spraying water to block sunlight from affecting air-conditioning loading; and (5) anticipating to pass ISO 50001 certification in 2024.
