7.2.1 Energy-efficient renovation and building(2023)

To accommodate the government’s net-zero by 2050 goal and the development of the country’s overall GHG emission reduction strategy, MCUT has formulated its energy policy, which includes (1) prioritizing the procurement of eco-friendly products recognized by the government in accordance with the regulations; (2) replacing conventional energy-consuming light fixtures with energy-efficient LED panels; (3) replacing air conditioners with high-efficiency or variable-frequency ones; (4) dormitories equipped with heat-pump systems or solar boilers; (5) managing elevator operations or installing elevator energy recovery devices; (6) winning “Green Procurement Excellence Award” for five consecutive years from 2019 to 2023; (7) receiving the highest honor – Golden Bear of “Low-carbon Campus Label” by the Environmental Protection Bureau, New Taipei City; and (8) a new R&D building, planned in 2023 under construction in 2024, has obtained the Silver-grade Green Building Label.
