12.2.4 Policy waste disposal - landfill policy(2023)
MCUT’s waste disposal policy is based on the Ministry of Environment’s Waste Disposal Act, combined with an ISO14001 management system. On-campus general waste is divided into recyclable or non-recyclable waste. The removal and disposal of recyclables are entrusted to an outsourcing contractor approved by the competent authorities. Their types and weights are handled in accordance with the “Procedures for Management and Reward and Punishment of Proceeds from Resource Recovery and Disposal.” Non-recyclables are removed by an operator approved by the government and are transported to the government’s incineration plant. To reduce the total amount of waste, MCUT organizes second-hand bazaars to encourage the reuse of goods. In 2023, non-recyclable waste incinerated totaled 317.2 metric tons and recyclable waste (including batteries) totaled 69.23 metric tons.
