To fulfill the founder's original vision of "establishing a private school to give back to society," our founder donated personal assets, land, and stocks during their lifetime to establish a substantial endowment fund for Ming Chi. This ensures the sustainable development of the educational institution while establishing principles of refined school management and a commitment to distinct characteristics.

Guided by our educational philosophy of "sandwich-style practical training" to bridge the gap between theory and practice, our students have the opportunity to participate in work-study internships within Formosa Plastics Group or other public and private enterprises. Through hands-on learning in the workplace, students enhance their problem-solving skills and develop the perseverance to overcome challenges. Consequently, our graduates are highly sought after by enterprises across various industries. Our alumni have achieved remarkable success in government agencies, business and industry, and academia, setting a benchmark for industry-academia cooperation in vocational education.

Established at the very beginning of our school, the "Production Training Factory" manufactured items such as zippers, coat hangers, and curtain suspension parts. At the time, teachers served as factory directors and senior students acted as internship foremen. While some employees were regular workers, the majority of the staff were work-study students. Students engaged in work such as assembly, stamping, and electroplating in the factory—working half a day and attending classes for the other half—with department chairs and teachers regularly visiting the factory to guide them.

After the school was upgraded to a university, it emulated Formosa Plastics Group's "new college graduate training" model. Interning students are trained as "intern engineers" and encouraged to participate in on-site professional practices or project work. Under the guidance of on-site professional supervisors and department advisors, students use "learning by doing" to experience how classroom knowledge is applied practically. This not only enhances their professional practice and problem-solving abilities, but also aims to bridge the gap between theory and practice, ensuring that students can adapt to the workplace upon graduation, showcase their expertise, and become outstanding industrial leaders.

Students learn practical skills and the ability to solve real-world problems through observation and hands-on operation at work. The practical knowledge acquired through work within the factory area also helps students absorb classroom teaching content. This is the very essence of the "sandwich teaching" approach.

The world's most renowned higher education internship systems include the German dual vocational education system, the North American cooperative education (thin sandwich) system, and the British sandwich course system (thick sandwich).

Since being upgraded to a university of science and technology, our institution has adopted the "British thick sandwich curriculum" design, guided by the philosophy of "learning through work." We arrange full-year, full-time, and fully paid internship courses for students during their junior year. Their compensation, working hours, and leave all comply with labor regulations. This dual objective achieves both operational training for partner organizations and practical learning for intern students, who trade service or labor for remuneration while gaining meaningful work experience and skill development. Furthermore, cultivating the right attitude and understanding corporate operations serve as essential vocational education foundations for our students.

After completing their internship, students return to campus for one final year of study, allowing them to gain a deeper understanding of the integration between theory and practice. Particularly through final-year on-campus studies, students further strengthen their professional skills, management practice learning, or cross-disciplinary studies during their senior year. This elevates the professional knowledge required for their career development and fulfills the educational goal of the final mile of practical education, seamlessly connecting industry and academia to advance career development.

To cultivate students' global perspective, our school actively promotes overseas internships. Over the years, the cumulative number of students participating in international internships has reached 700, with footprints spanning the United States, Europe, Southeast Asia, China, and other regions. After returning to campus in their senior year, intern students can also integrate practical issues into their graduation projects—further developing them into master's theses—or take courses to enhance the professional skills required in the workplace.
